Our story.. some science.. and can I meet your pet?
I've been a counsellor for six years. My previous role was as trainer in employability - I've always enjoyed working with people to build up their confidence! Previously a Youthline counsellor, I have enjoyed counselling young people as well as adults for a number of years. Joining my team in 2021, Bailey and I have been providing animal assisted interventions through People and Animal Wellbeing Services (PAWS) for the past three years. Bailey the therapy dog has featured in many successful interventions and regularly attends three schools across Surrey and Berkshire. Rescued in covid year of 2020, Bailey quickly became part of the family and instantly helped with anxiety at home.
Science shows that a therapy animal can help us feel more relaxed - with gushings of happy hormones flooding our bodies when we stroke them - and helping lower our blood pressure. They truly are human's best friends.
Do you have a special cat or dog you would like to bring along to our therapy sessions? Ascot Therapy Rooms is animal friendly and I look forward to the chance to meet your ball of fluff! Perhaps your favourite friend is a bearded dragon? Well he/she/they would be welcome too!
